HVAC Technician

Join a leading provider of mission-critical facilities management services.

Our client delivers 24/7 facilities management and technical operations for high-availability data centers across multiple regions.

With a strong focus on uptime, safety, and environmental stability, they support hyperscale and enterprise clients by operating and maintaining complex mechanical and HVAC infrastructure.

As part of ongoing operational growth, they are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical cooling systems within a live data center environment.

About the Role

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems that ensure stable temperature, humidity, and airflow conditions across the facility. Working under the supervision of the Data Centre Mechanical Engineer, you will carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, fault response, and support commissioning and upgrades - helping maintain continuous uptime in a mission-critical setting.

This is a hands-on O&M role suited to technicians with experience in data centres, critical facilities, or other high-reliability environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor HVAC and mechanical systems via BMS and routine on-site inspections.
  • Maintain temperature, humidity, and airflow within ASHRAE and client standards.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, cooling towers, pumps, valves, and associated pipework.
  • Respond promptly to HVAC faults and alarms; escalate complex issues to the Mechanical Engineer as required.
  • Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC equipment and piping systems.
  • Support airflow management strategies in white space areas, including hot/cold aisle containment.
  • Adhere strictly to LOTO procedures, permits to work, and mechanical safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with local mechanical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and test results.
  • Report system status, incidents, and improvement opportunities to the Mechanical Engineer.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or a related discipline.
  • 2–3+ years’ experience maintaining HVAC systems, ideally within data centres, critical facilities, or industrial environments.
  • Practical knowledge of chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps, cooling towers, and airflow management.
  • Familiarity with BMS platforms and mechanical safety standards.
  • Data centre or critical-environment certifications are advantageous but not essential.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong troubleshooting and hands-on technical skills.
  • Calm and effective under pressure in live operational environments.
  • High safety awareness with a disciplined approach to procedures.
  • Good documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to operational excellence.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a professional FM organisation operating at the heart of mission-critical infrastructure. You’ll work with advanced cooling systems, support high-availability operations, and play a key role in maintaining the environmental stability that underpins the digital economy.
