Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced I&C / BMS Superintendent to provide day-to-day field leadership for the installation and integration of instrumentation & controls (I&C) systems and building management systems (BMS) on a mission-critical project. This role will ensure subcontractors are executing work safely, correctly, and on schedule, with an emphasis on quality and system readiness for commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision of subcontractors installing:
- I&C devices (sensors, transmitters, actuators, valves).
- BMS infrastructure (controllers, panels, cabling, networks).
- Walk down installations to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Support QA/QC activities, including loop checks, device verifications, and redline updates.
- Coordinate field activities with Mechanical, Electrical, and IT/OT teams.
- Monitor schedule and productivity, escalating risks or issues to project leadership.
- Drive daily safety meetings and ensure subcontractors follow all site EHS protocols.
- Assist commissioning agents during startup, functional testing, and turnover activities.
- Maintain accurate field documentation, progress reports, and as-built tracking.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in field supervision of controls, automation, or low-voltage system installations.
- Background in data centers, semiconductor, industrial, or large-scale MEP projects.
- Hands-on knowledge of I&C and BMS installations, including cabling, device terminations, panel wiring, and equipment interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and one-lines.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate between subcontractors, engineers, and commissioning teams.
- Familiarity with construction management tools (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office).
- Commissioning or startup support experience with I&C or BMS systems.
- Certifications such as BICSI, OSHA 30, or vendor-specific BMS training.
- Previous experience on hyperscale data center or semiconductor projects.
