Infinium Operations Texas, LLC is building advanced energy infrastructure in Pecos, Texas—and we’re looking for a highly skilled Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to help power the future.
The RoleAs an I&E Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production facility. You will provide hands-on technical expertise in the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation, automation systems, along with low, medium, and high voltage (LV/MV/HV) electrical distribution systems. This includes work on switchgear, substations, transformers, breakers, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relay systems, and associated infrastructure.
You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to maintain regulatory compliance, minimize downtime, and continuously improve system reliability and operational performance.
What You’ll DoInstrumentation & Controls
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on field instruments, transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and electrical systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC/DCS systems (Emerson, Siemens, ABB ), MCCs, and VFDs
- Diagnose instrumentation loops, wiring faults, and electrical issues to reduce downtime
- Assist with installation, calibration, commissioning, and system upgrades
- Support loop checks, function testing, and startup activities
- Maintain documentation for inspections, calibrations, and maintenance using CMMS
- Support environmental and safety monitoring systems including gas detection and ESD systems
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend long-term reliability improvements
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics
LV / MV / HV Electrical Systems (120V – 138kV+)
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on LV/MV/HV electrical systems, including switchgear, breakers, transformers, and distribution equipment
- Support medium and high voltage switching activities, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and energy isolation procedures in accordance with NFPA 70E and company standards
- Inspect, test, and maintain protective relays, grounding systems, and electrical protection schemes
- Assist with substation maintenance, transformer inspections, and cable testing (megger, insulation resistance, hi-pot as applicable)
- Support commissioning and startup of medium and high voltage power distribution infrastructure
DC Power & Backup Systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial DC power systems, including rectifiers, converters, DC panels, and battery backup systems
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EHS policies, electrical safety standards, Safe Work Permit, and Energy Control procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to NFPA 70E, NEC, ISA standards, OSHA PSM requirements, and company electrical safety programs
- Provide on-call support and collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Trades, and Planning teams
What We’re Looking For
- Technical diploma or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field
- 3–6+ years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power , data center infrastructure, or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience with LV/MV/HV systems (up to 138kV )
- Experience supporting substations, protective relays, and switching procedures
- Strong knowledge of 4–20 mA, HART, Modbus, and fieldbus communications
- Proficiency using multimeters, calibrators, loop testers, megohmmeters, and electrical test equipment
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, ISA standards, and OSHA PSM
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Willingness to accommodate overtime and call-out support as needed
Work EnvironmentIndustrial plant environment with exposure to hazardous materials and compliance with hazardous area classifications (Class I, Div 1/2). This is a field-based, hands-on role requiring mobility, electrical safety discipline, and strict adherence to company and regulatory standards.
