Coatings Estimator / Project CoordinatorPosition Summary

G&C Coatings is seeking a Coatings Estimator / Project Coordinator to support our industrial blasting and coatings operations. This role is responsible for reviewing customer specifications, drawings, and bid packages to develop accurate project estimates while coordinating awarded work with project management, production, and customers.

The ideal candidate has experience in industrial coatings and understands how to interpret coating specifications, calculate surface areas, determine labor and material requirements, and coordinate projects from bid award through completion. This individual will serve as a key link between Sales, Operations, and Customers to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Essential ResponsibilitiesEstimating

• Review customer drawings, specifications, bid packages, and coating requirements.
• Interpret industrial coating specifications and determine project scope.
• Calculate coating quantities, labor hours, blasting requirements, consumables, equipment, and production durations.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for industrial blasting, painting, specialty coatings, linings, and related services.
• Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing when required.
• Prepare professional proposals, scope descriptions, exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions.
• Participate in estimate review and project turnover meetings.
• Assist with pricing revisions, change orders, and supplemental work requests.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate awarded projects from estimate turnover through project completion.
• Work closely with Operations personnel to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated.
• Monitor project schedules and assist with production planning.
• Track project documentation, specifications, inspection requirements, and customer deliverables.
• Support project cost tracking and change management activities.
• Communicate project status updates internally and externally as needed.

Customer & Internal Communication

• Serve as a primary point of coordination between Sales, Project Management, Operations, Quality, and Customers.
• Participate in planning and production meetings.
• Assist with resolving project issues related to specifications, scheduling, and scope changes.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and professional service.

Technical Responsibilities

• Understand industrial coating systems, surface preparation requirements, and application methods.
• Review coating specifications to determine blast profiles, coating systems, dry film thickness requirements, cure schedules, and inspection criteria.
• Assist with quality documentation and project closeout packages.
• Ensure project requirements align with customer specifications and company quality standards.

QualificationsRequired

• 3+ years of experience in industrial coatings, painting, estimating, project coordination, or related industrial services.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and coating specifications.
• Working knowledge of industrial blasting and coating processes.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

• Experience estimating industrial coating or painting projects.
• Knowledge of SSPC, AMPP/NACE, ASTM, and industry coating standards.
• Experience serving oil & gas, petrochemical, power , manufacturing, water treatment, pharmaceutical, or data center industries.
• Familiarity with industrial quality control and inspection requirements.
