Position Summary
The Interiors Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all interior construction activities on assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. This role focuses on interior scopes including framing, drywall, ceilings, finishes, MEP trim-out, and closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise all interior trades and subcontractors on site
- Coordinate daily work activities to maintain project schedule
- Lead daily huddles, weekly subcontractor meetings, and look-ahead planning
Scheduling & Production
- Execute and manage the interiors schedule (typically from dry-in through completion)
- Identify and mitigate delays; adjust sequencing as needed
- Drive production to meet milestone dates (e.g., above-ceiling inspections, punch, turnover)
Quality Control
- Ensure all interior work meets drawings, specs, and company quality standards
- Conduct regular inspections of framing, drywall, ceilings, finishes, and MEP rough/trim
- Manage punch lists and ensure timely closeout
Safety Management
- Enforce site safety policies and OSHA compliance
- Conduct regular safety walks and toolbox talks
- Ensure subcontractors follow safety protocols
Subcontractor Management
- Hold subcontractors accountable for manpower, schedule, and quality
- Review scopes of work and resolve conflicts in the field
- Coordinate inspections and approvals with local authorities
MEP & Finishes Coordination
- Oversee above-ceiling coordination (duct, piping, conduit before close-in)
- Ensure proper sequencing of trades (e.g., drywall before ceilings, flooring after paint)
- Coordinate installation of finishes including flooring, millwork, specialties, and fixtures
Project Closeout
- Lead punch list process and turnover activities
- Ensure completion of all interior-related inspections and documentation
- Support commissioning and final client walkthroughs
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 5–10+ years of commercial construction experience
- 2–5+ years in a superintendent or foreman role focused on interiors
- Experience with large-scale projects (office, healthcare, mission-critical/data centers )
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- Metal stud framing & drywall systems
- ACT/hard ceilings
- Flooring systems (carpet, tile, resilient, raised floor systems)
- Painting & wall finishes
- MEP systems coordination above ceiling
Skills
- Strong scheduling and sequencing skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/specifications
- Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with fast-track or phased turnover projects
- Experience in mission-critical or data center environments
