Job Description
Astreya is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Inventory Technician IV to support operations within our client’s fast-paced environment. In this role, you will serve as a critical steward of IT asset accuracy, owning the organization, documentation, and lifecycle tracking of hardware, peripherals, and network equipment. You will partner closely with site operations teams to implement best-in-class inventory practices and provide hands-on support for physical infrastructure. This is a client-facing role requiring strong organizational discipline, a proactive mindset, and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision,
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Organization & Management
- Organize and maintain dedicated inventory areas, ensuring hardware, components, and stock are consistently categorized, clearly labeled, and accurately documented.
- Manage the full lifecycle of IT peripherals and related assets, from receiving and intake to deployment and disposition.
- Maintain clean, audit-ready inventory spaces that align with client standards and Astreya operational policies.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely replenishment and accurate stock levels.
Cycle Counts & Reconciliation
- Conduct regular cycle counts of physical inventory and reconcile discrepancies against internal asset tracking and inventory management systems.
- Investigate root causes of inventory variances and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Generate and maintain accurate count reports, distributing findings to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Escalate significant discrepancies or systemic issues to program management with documented evidence.
Labeling & Standardization
- Develop, document, and implement standardized labeling conventions and inventory management practices to improve asset traceability and reduce errors.
- Create and maintain SOPs for inventory intake, storage, issuance, and returns.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across inventory operations.
- Train and guide lower-level technicians or support staff on established inventory procedures.
Physical Infrastructure Support
- Provide hands-on support for basic network cabling and physical infrastructure tasks, including cable management, patching, and labeling.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of physical layer issues and coordinate escalation or repair activities with the appropriate technical teams.
- Support office builds, expansions, and refresh projects by assisting with equipment staging, cabling, and inventory logistics.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in IT asset management, inventory control, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with inventory management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Snipe-IT, or similar ITSM/ITAM platforms).
- Strong understanding of IT hardware and peripherals, including desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, keyboards, and related accessories.
- Experience conducting cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining accurate asset records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with client stakeholders.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs and work in data center or server room environments.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certification.
- Experience in a hyperscale technology or data center environment.
- Familiarity with DCIM tools or structured cabling standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568).
- Prior experience developing or refining SOPs for inventory or asset management workflows.
- Exposure to ticketing systems such as Jira or ServiceNow for tracking work orders and requests.
- Familiarity with basic network infrastructure concepts including structured cabling, patch panels, switches, and wireless access points.
- Ability to read and produce basic network/floor plan documentation and cable maps.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- On-site position at our client facility; schedule and location details provided at time of offer.
- Work is performed in office, warehouse, and light data center environments.
- May require occasional work outside standard business hours to support maintenance windows or urgent operational needs.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) is required.
- Must comply with all site security, badge, and safety requirements.
