Job Overview:
TheIT & Business Intelligence (BI) Manager is responsible for leading the companys digital infrastructure, data systems, and automation initiatives to support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth. This role serves as the primary liaison between corporate IT governance and internal operations, ensuring alignment in cybersecurity, data integrity, and system reliability. The IT & BI Manager drives the development of real-time analytics, predictive tools, and process automation that enhance decision-making, strengthens compliance, and improves manufacturing performance across all business units.
Essential Functions:
Liaison & Governance
- Serve as the primary liaison to corporate IT leadership for coordination on infrastructure, cybersecurity, and governance initiatives.
- Ensure all systems and processes comply with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and NIST Cybersecurity Framework standards.
- Establish and maintain standardized documentation, change control, and validation processes for IT and BI projects.
- Lead internal audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance and readiness for external regulatory inspections.
IT Support & Infrastructure
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including helpdesk management, technical support, and system troubleshooting.
- Manage installation, configuration, and lifecycle maintenance of company hardware, software, and network systems.
- Administer access control, user onboarding/offboarding, and role-based security protocols.
- Develop and maintain robust data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Standardize IT asset management processes to improve visibility, reduce redundancy, and ensure traceability.
Business Intelligence & Predictive Systems
- Lead the design and deployment of business intelligence dashboards and predictive analytics that drive data-informed decisions.
- Integrate key data sources (JobBoss, AirTable, Dropbox) into a unified, secure data lake serving as the companys single source of truth.
- Advance analytical capabilities from descriptive (what happened) to predictive and prescriptive (what will happen and what to do).
- Deliver exception-based dashboards that proactively flag deviations impacting on-time delivery, yield, or cost.
- Ensure data governance, validation, and traceability across all BI and AI-driven systems.
Automation & Efficiency
- Drive automation initiatives across engineering, production, quality, and manufacturing to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Expand the use of Python, AI, and machine learning tools to automate repetitive processes and optimize resource utilization.
- Oversee the implementation of AI-based scheduling, production planning, and what-if simulation tools for capacity optimization.
- Implement digital automation for compliance deliverables such as traveler packets, certificates of conformance, and traceability documentation.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to identify and prioritize automation opportunities that deliver measurable ROI.
Redundancy & Resilience
- Lead capacity mapping efforts to align personnel, printers, and production assets for scalable throughput.
- Maintain redundant systems and safeguard against single points of failure in critical IT infrastructure.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to validate system resilience, data security, and business continuity readiness.
- Ensure sufficient open capacity to maintain on-time delivery (OTD) of patient-specific implants and critical products.
Departmental Leadership & Development
- Define and maintain clear roles within the IT & Automation team to balance strategic direction and technical execution.
- Mentor and develop the IT & Automation Specialist to expand internal BI, AI, and automation capabilities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation across all IT and data functions.
- Build internal expertise to reduce reliance on external consultants and accelerate digital transformation initiatives.
Technical Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in data visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and API integrations for data automation.
- Understanding of AI and predictive modeling principles for operations or manufacturing analytics.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, system security, and backup protocols.
- Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 13485, and medical device QMS systems a plus.
- Strategic thinker able to translate data into actionable business decisions.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong project management and organizational capabilities; able to prioritize and deliver at pace.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, cybersecurity vigilance, and regulatory compliance.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field required;
- Masters degree in Business Analytics, Systems Engineering, or Cybersecurity .
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Microsoft Power BI, or NIST Cybersecurity Framework training are desirable.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, business intelligence, or data systems integration.
- Demonstrated success in ERP management (JobBoss or equivalent), system integration, and data architecture.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional automation or BI initiatives within a manufacturing or regulated industry environment.
- Experience implementing or managing cybersecurity programs aligned with NIST or ISO/IEC 27001 frameworks.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience required, ideally within a data or IT infrastructure environment.
