Job Summary
The Onsite Project Manager / External Consultant acts as the clients onsite representative for IT Infrastructure, low voltage and technology projects. This role oversees installation activities, ensures work aligns with design documents and standards, and serves as the primary point of contact between the client, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the client onsite for low voltage and technology projects
- Monitor contractor installation for compliance with drawings, specs, and standards
- Coordinate with general contractors, IT teams, architects, and engineers
- Review low voltage shop drawings, RFIs, and field changes
- Conduct daily site walks to verify quality, progress, and coordination
- Identify issues early and recommend corrective actions
- Track project milestones and report status to the client and design team
- Verify testing, labeling, and documentation provided by contractors
- Support system commissioning, punch walks, and project close-out
- Maintain clear, professional communication with all project parties
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in low voltage systems or technology installations
- Strong understanding of structured cabling, fiber, pathways, and telecom spaces
- Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to identify installation issues and deviations from design
- Strong communication, documentation, and reporting skills
- Ability to work directly with clients and contractors
- Proficient with email, reports, photos, and basic project tools
Qualifications
- Experience acting as an external consultant
- Interest in pursuing RCDD or any other related ICT certifications
- Knowledge of TIA/EIA, BICSI, and industry best practices
- Experience with commercial, healthcare, education, or data center projects
- Familiarity with commissioning and close-out processes
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work onsite as required by the project
- Ability to walk active construction sites
- Comfortable working around ladders, lifts, and ceiling spaces
- Flexible schedule to support construction activities

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The Senior Consultant I work a standard work week but may be required to work evenings and weekends to monitor project activities and participate in cutovers or other project efforts.
Travel:
Travel will be based on project needs. The position is primarily onsite working from the clients location during the business day; however, up to 25% out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected depending on the project/client/company needs.
