Medical Network of Alaska (MNA) is seeking an experienced IT System Engineer to join our dynamic IT team supporting a large multi-specialty medical group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure systems that support our healthcare operations across multiple locations and specialties.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

- Design, implement, and maintain Windows and Linux server environments across multiple data centers and cloud platforms

- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) and container technologies

- Oversee network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems

- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions

- Monitor system performance and capacity planning for optimal operations

Healthcare Systems Integration

- Support Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare applications

- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain security standards for protected health information

- Integrate medical devices and diagnostic equipment with IT infrastructure

- Support practice management systems and revenue cycle applications

- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure minimal disruption during system maintenance

Security and Compliance

- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures and best practices

- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability management

- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and industry standards

- Manage endpoint protection and network security monitoring

- Participate in incident response and forensic analysis activities

Cloud and Modern Technologies

- Migrate on-premises systems to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)

- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or ARM templates

- Support Office 365/Microsoft 365 environments and collaboration tools

- Manage and access management systems (Active Directory, Azure AD)

- Implement automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting

Project Management and Documentation

- Lead technical projects from conception to completion

- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation

- Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff

- Participate in change management processes and procedures

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

- 5+ years of experience in system engineering or infrastructure management

- 2+ years of experience in healthcare IT environments

- Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, etc.)

Technical Skills

- Proficiency with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions

- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)

- Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls)

- Cloud platform experience (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)

- Database administration experience (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)

- Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

- Knowledge of monitoring tools (SCOM, Nagios, SolarWinds)

Healthcare-Specific Requirements

- Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare compliance requirements

- Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.)

- Familiarity with HL7 standards and healthcare data integration

- Knowledge of medical device connectivity and DICOM standards
