Position: IT Systems Engineer

Reports to: IS Director

Overview:

This is a newly created hands-on role responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability and continual improvement of the company’s core IT services under the direction of the Director of IS. The role oversees all aspects of infrastructure and various corporate applications such as but not limited to: ETRM, FS, TAS, M/O365 administration, service desk operations, cybersecurity, and IT project execution. The role highly interacts with upper management and plays critical part in ensuring IT support to all functional areas within the corporate office and the terminal facility. In this role, the following are the areas of direct impact and responsibility:

Infrastructure Networks & Environment Management

  • Architect, build, and maintain enterprise networks including firewalls, switches, WAPS, and DMARC.
  • Architect, build, and maintain enterprise systems including Windows Server, Exchange Online, SQL Server, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, Entra ID, and storage solutions.
  • Administer Storage Area Networks, vSAN, and hyper-converged infrastructure platforms
  • Oversee the deployment and lifecycle management of physical and virtual devices across multiple data centers.

Cybersecurity SOC

  • Communicate and partner with IT Security teams to monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities
  • Implement, configure, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, NextGen endpoint detection and response (EDR), Network Detection and Response (NDR), and Zero Trust solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with security frameworks and internal policies such as NIST, CIS Controls, and etc.
  • Lead risk assessments and recommend mitigations to reduce attack surface.

Systems Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Utilize advanced monitoring and logging platforms to ensure high availability and security of all systems.
  • Respond to infrastructure and security events, coordinating remediation efforts end-to-end.

Automation & Optimization

  • Develop and maintain automated workflows and configuration management using scripting and orchestration tools as describe in the skills.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, and security.

Collaboration & Support

  • Provide Tier III escalation support to IT support teams.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure, cybersecurity, and any initiatives.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems configurations, policies, and procedures. An understanding to create procedural books for RUN/PLAY/SOP.
  • Ensure adherence to ITSM processes and audit requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of continued experience.
  • Windows Server (2019/2022/2025), Active Directory, Entra ID, M365 Admin Center.
  • VMware vSphere administration at scale.
  • Storage systems (SAN, vSAN, HCI).
  • Network services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Security platforms (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, NDR, EDR).
  • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Python, CLI, and VBS.
  • Experience with IT tools such as CrowdStrike, Proofpoint, Opentext (Carbonite), Cohesity (Veritas), and others.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Ability to travel by car or plane.
  • The company operates 24/7 schedule. The role requires varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and when necessary, that may bleed into holidays.

Compensation:

  • To be determined based on experience and education.

IMPORTANT: This role requires on-site presence. Applicants located in Los Angeles County and Orange County will be considered.
