We are seeking anexperiencedParalegal atour Pittsburgh office.
The Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to two General Counsels within a large construction company. This role focuses on contract administration, subcontract review, litigation and claims management, and general legal operations support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in construction law or a related field.
What you will do:
Contract and Subcontract review
- Review and assist in the preparation of subcontracts, purchase orders, and related construction agreements.
- Identify and flag non-standard or high-risk terms for attorney review.
- Coordinate contract execution.
- Assist with contract compliance and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Review vendor revisions subcontracts, purchase orders, and other construction agreements.
- Perform risk analyses on ITBs and RFPs for new pursuits.
- Review and revise low-risk agreements with minimal oversight.
- Create contract abstracts for high-value, complex construction agreements.
Litigation and Claims Management
- Support litigation and dispute resolution activities, including coordinating with outside counsel.
- Manage document collection, organization, and production for litigation and claims.
- Maintain litigation and claims tracking systems, including status updates, deadlines, and budgets.
- Assist in preparing discovery materials, pleadings, and internal case summaries.
- Track and process invoices from outside counsel and vendors.
- Independently review discovery productions with minimal oversight.
Risk Management and Claims Support
- Assist in the management of claims, including gathering documentation, drafting correspondence, and maintaining claim files.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (project managers, operations teams) to obtain necessary information for claims and disputes.
- Support insurance-related matters, including claims reporting and documentation.
- Assist with legal and regulatory research across all 50 states.
- Track legal and regulatory changes.
Administrative and Legal Support:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to two General Counsels, including calendar management, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel.
- Prepare, edit, and format legal documents, correspondence, presentations, and reports.
- Maintain legal files, databases, and document management systems in an organized and accessible manner.
- Track deadlines, key dates, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of legal matters.
- Support training initiatives by helping prepare materials related to contracts and risk management.
- Assist in building, refining, and managing legal department processes, systems, templates, trackers, and workflows.
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelors degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 35 years of paralegal experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or corporate legal departments.
- Experience with construction contracts and litigation support strongly .
- Strong understanding of contract structures and legal terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and complete unfamiliar tasks with minimal oversight.
- Takes ownership of assignments and diligently works to completion
- Experience supporting in-house legal teams in the construction or engineering industries.
- Familiarity with AIA, ConsensusDocs, or other standard construction contract forms.
- Experience with eDiscovery platforms.
