About the Position:
Mason is seeking a Junior Engineer / Estimator with 2+ years of experience in low voltage estimating or a recent Electrical Engineering graduate with exposure to structured cabling projects. This role is ideal for candidates who want to bridge engineering design and project estimation, working on commercial structured cabling projects involving copper (Cat6/6A), fiber, racks, and associated hardware. The Junior Engineer / Estimator will assist in preparing bids, takeoffs, proposals, and collaborating with general contractors.
Key Responsibilities & Required Skillset:
- Prepare accurate estimates for structured cabling projects, including copper, fiber, equipment racks, and associated hardware.
- Develop project takeoffs, bills of materials, and labor/material cost estimates.
- Assist in generating turnkey proposals for clients.
- Review and interpret floor plans, riser diagrams, elevations, and low voltage system drawings.
- Collaborate with general contractors and project teams during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Use Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and other industry-standard quoting tools.
- Maintain organized documentation, scopes of work, and client-ready materials.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- RCDD and/or BICSI certifications are a plus.
- Experience with ConnectWise or similar quoting software is a plus.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of estimating experience in low voltage/structured cabling projects, or a recent Electrical Engineering graduate with relevant coursework, , or project experience.
- Familiarity with commercial low voltage systems and standards (Cat5/6/6A, fiber).
- Proficiency in reading plans and preparing takeoffs.
Salary: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
