WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Junior Product Engineer on the Solutions Management team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development, testing, and delivery of SageNet’s managed service offerings. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and product managers to design and integrate solutions that align with customer and market needs.

This hands-on role offers exposure to a wide range of technologies across connectivity, networking, and digital platforms. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who’s passionate about technology, problem-solving, and learning how products move from concept to launch.

Major duties and responsibilities:

Solution Design & Integration:

    • Design, engineer, and implement solutions that combine hardware, software, network services, and digital communication platforms.
    • Evaluate, select, and integrate technologies such as SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA, UCaaS, and digital collaboration tools.
    • Translate business and user requirements into technical specifications, architecture, and design documentation.
    • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to align solutions with market and customer needs.

Testing & Validation:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for connectivity, digital, and voice solutions.
    • Perform load testing, security validation, and performance optimization to ensure scalability and reliability.
    • Document defects, troubleshoot issues, and work with vendors and partners for resolution.
    • Ensure solutions meet all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for connectivity, digital, and voice solutions.
    • Perform load testing, security validation, and performance optimization to ensure scalability and reliability.
    • Document defects, troubleshoot issues, and work with vendors and partners for resolution.
    • Ensure solutions meet all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

    • Research, evaluate, and test emerging technologies in networking, digital communications, and managed services.
    • Participate in proof-of-concepts and pilot deployments to assess new solutions.
    • Drive improvements in performance, security, and user experience across the solution portfolio.
    • Partner with DevOps and network teams to ensure solutions are deployable, scalable, and maintain strong uptime metrics.

Agile Participation:

    • Actively lead and contribute in Agile workstreams, sprint planning, and reviews.
    • Define acceptance criteria and provide technical insights during product development cycles.
    • Serve as a technical liaison across stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on technical training).
  • , co-op, or project experience in areas such as networking, telecommunications, systems integration, or product development.
  • Exposure to or coursework involving networking fundamentals, cloud platforms, or managed services concepts.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum practices and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Understanding of core technologies like SD-WAN, SASE, UCaaS, or network security concepts.
  • Some experience or coursework in scripting or programming (Python, Java, or similar) and comfort working with APIs or automation tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to solving problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive learner who takes initiative, values feedback, and is motivated to grow within a collaborative engineering environment.

Professional Development

  • Certifications such as Fortinet, Cisco, AWS, or Azure are a plus.
  • Candidates interested in pursuing certifications or expanding technical skills will be encouraged and supported as part of their professional growth within SageNet.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or configuring equipment in a lab environment.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, connecting cables, and handling small components or tools.
  • Regular visual focus required for analyzing data on screens, monitoring network equipment, and reviewing technical diagrams.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or crouching when setting up or testing hardware.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment or devices up to 25 lbs as needed for lab setups, installations, or testing activities.
  • Comfortable working in a lab setting that involves network gear, cabling, and other electronic equipment.
