Lead Data Center Technician

Job Description

Technical Source is currently in search of multiple Lead Data Center Technicians for our fiber optic client in Abilene, TX. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position that requires onsite work. The qualified candidate should have experience managing cabling installations.

Responsibilities of the Lead Data Center Technician include:

• Oversee installation, termination, labeling, and testing of fiber optic and copper cabling systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards
• Manage day-to-day project activities, including reading plans, conducting site walk-throughs, tracking progress, and communicating updates to project managers and clients
• Supervise and train crews of technicians, delegate tasks, and support skill development toward lead-level performance
• Ensure all work meets scope, code, and safety standards while maintaining organized job sites and complete documentation of test results

Qualifications of the Lead Data Center Technician include:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with low-voltage/data cabling systems, including fiber and copper installation and testing
• Proficiency in terminating and troubleshooting cabling systems and operating test equipment
• Ability to lead teams, manage subcontractors, and effectively communicate with clients and project stakeholders
• BICSI Installer I/II , valid driver’s license
