Job Brief: We are seeking a skilled Data Center Team Lead to join our IT team. The Data Center Team Lead responsibilities include maintaining the data center’s IT system, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services. The ideal candidate for this role should possess a strong understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations. Familiarity with server installations and network updates is also required. Additionally, the candidate will perform duties of a team leader and have project management experience. Certification in project management is a plus. The candidate should also have GPU experience and 4 plus years in a hyperscale environment.

Responsibilities:

•\tPerform tasks listed under Level 1 and Level 2 as needed.

o\tMove servers and switches to required destinations for installation.

o\tInspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.

o\tInstall servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.

o\tEnsure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.

o\tDouble-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.

o\tInstall additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).

o\tAssist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.

o\tAudit servers and consumables.

o\tTroubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.

o\tOrder replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.

o\tUpdate firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.

o\tConfigure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.

o\tAssist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.

o\tTemporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.

o\tAssist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.

o\tDeploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

o\tPerform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

•\tProvide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.

•\tServe as the initial contact/liaison between team members and management.

•\tPrioritize and manage workload across the team.

•\tReview build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.

•\tDirect build activities related to data center operations.

•\tAct as an escalation point of contact for Level 1 and Level 2 teams.

•\tDesignate predetermined training paths in line with company standards.

•\tEnsure projects are aligned with data center standards.

•\tPlan and coordinate activities with other teams as needed for project builds and escalations.

•\tLead and mentor deployment and operational teams.

•\tProvide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.

•\tManage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.

•\tMonitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.

•\tEnsure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.

•\tDeploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

•\tPerform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

Requirements:

•\tHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

•\tBasic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

•\tBasic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

•\tFlexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.

•\tAbility to lift up to 35 pounds when necessary.

•\tAbility to safely climb ladders when necessary.

•\tAbility to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary.

•\tAbility to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity.

•\tProven experience as a technical lead with the ability for people supervision.

•\tProject management experience.

•\t4 plus years of experience in a hyperscale environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

•\tCompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.

•\tCompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.

•\tCCENT or equivalent experience.

•\tWindows OS experience.

•\tCCNA certification preferred.

•\tMCP/MSCE certification preferred.

•\tScripting experience preferred – PowerShell, Python, Bash.

•\tProject management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.

•\tExperience with structured cabling, rack & stack, fiber, or optical testing.

•\tUnderstanding of storage devices.

•\tExperience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.

•\tFamiliarity with ITIL Framework (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).

•\tStrong understanding of Network Fundamentals (OSI Layers 1-3).

•\tExperience with building, testing, and running cables between devices.

•\tExperience with installing and terminating Copper and Fiber Optic cabling.

•\tExperience with GPU deployment and troubleshooting.

•\tOSHA30 or higher certification.

Onsite in Mt. Pleasant, WI -Seeking a team based out of the South Eastern Wisconsin area who will be focused on GPU cluster deployments within MKE 03 and 04, Mt Pleasant, WI. Multiple resources across all 4 core MSFT shifts (A/B/Days/Nights) on a 3x4x12 schedule

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
