Role Overview
The Lead Electrical Engineer HV in Texas is a strategic leadership role focused on high-voltage substation design and project delivery. You will oversee technical governance, client engagement, and mentoring of engineers, with a clear pathway to Engineering Manager within 24 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design, specification, and coordination of HV substations (138–345 kV) in compliance with U.S. utility and regulatory standards (NESC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, ERCOT).
- Serve as primary technical interface with clients, consultants, and utilities during pre-construction and delivery.
- Review engineering outputs for compliance, quality, and technical rigor.
- Support Business Development / Pre-Construction teams in early-stage project scoping and grid feasibility.
- Collaborate with global engineering centers to adapt designs for U.S. market requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and build the U.S. engineering team over time.
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
- Capture project learnings to inform U.S. market strategy and enhance delivery processes.
Reporting & Interface
- Reports directly to the CTO.
- Provide monthly project updates and participate in executive quarterly reviews.
- Opportunity to progress to Engineering Manager within 24 months.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems ).
- PE license in Texas (or eligible for reciprocity).
- 5+ years in utility-scale or HV EPC projects.
- Experience with turnkey substations and HV grid projects, including protection/control systems.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. transmission/distribution infrastructure, ERCOT interconnection, and regional standards.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and work with external consultants.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
