This opportunity will give you the chance to grow your career and contribute to engineering excellence for the high-tech markets of the future, including semiconductors, batteries, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and data centers.LOCATIONDurham, NC*relocation assistance for non-local applicants is offered.COMPENSATION$128,000 - $160,000 (flexible)POSITION OVERVIEW – Lead Mechanical Engineer The Lead Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Biopharma Life Sciences, collaborates within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to develop comprehensive construction documents for critical systems, includingHVAC (wet and dry), plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing/process facilities, and life science facilities
- Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
- Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities, including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
- Supports project on-site execution and makes decisions to support projects, and acts as technical consultant
- Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by discipline team
- Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design, and final design documents, which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation
- Diagrams, general arrangements, and sequences of operation associated with these systems
- Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines, as well as other design offices
- Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables, and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- 8+ years of experience
- Autodesk Building Systems Software
QUALIFICATIONS
- Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record
- Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of biologics and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and systems
- Consulting engineering experience
- Experience working within a team environment
- Experience in the quality control review process
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
