Qualifications, Requirements, Roles and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include installing communications cable and devices in new and existing buildings and/or data centers including terminating, labeling, and testing cable. Position will be fiber optic heavy, splicing and testing fiber optics will be a requirement. Candidate must possess the following:

 

- Working knowledge of telecom standards regarding super- structure build out and cabling.

- Working knowledge of telecom circuit trouble-shooting using test equipment.

- Experience in Structured wiring and cabling (copper and fiber).

- Familiarity with cable coding (tip and ring), 568A and 568B pin-outs (terminations).

- Familiarity with reading and updating blue prints.

- Familiarity with telecommunication closet build outs and clean up, including but not limited to installation.

of patch panels, ladder rack, grounding, cable dressing, cable labeling, and cable testing.

- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

- Strong communication (written and verbal).

- Ability to move up and down a ladder and lift 75lbs.

- Must own low voltage tools.

- Requires valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and insurance. 

- BICSI Certification (Installer 1, Installer 2 Copper, Installer 2 Optical Fiber, and/or Technician credentials), manufacturer certifications, and/or Hilti shot certification .

- CPR & First Aid, Lift & Ladder, OSHA 10, and Confined Space certifications .

- Must be familiar with both construction site and data center environments, including typical safety measures and standard work environments.

- Able to work 2nd/3rd shift, overtime, and under pressure.

- Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately when dealing with customers, other departments, and/or personnel at levels up to President.

- Must have technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and installation; knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations.

- Must be able to work construction hours with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

- Supervise assigned projects, directing 4+ technicians and ensuring daily goals are met.

- Prepare and communicate daily status reports, keeping customers, and Project Mangers informed.

- Must work well with little supervision individually and in a team environment, demonstrating initiative.

- Proof of prior leadership/supervision and ability to track and update daily and weekly operations that relate to process and progress.

Some travel required.
