Lead Mechanical Facilities Engineer, Data Centers

We are building a next- 202 MW data center campus in South West Atlanta — and we’re looking for a strong mechanical leader to help drive operational excellence from the ground up.

This is a hands-on Lead-level role supporting advanced mechanical infrastructure within a high-performance, mission-critical environment. You’ll report directly to the Site Chief Engineer and play a key role in ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the campus. This position will be a Monday-Friday standard hours role, and not tied to a shift schedule.

What You’ll Do

As the Lead Mechanical Operations Engineer, you will:

  • Oversee and support critical mechanical infrastructure across the campus
  • Operate and maintain systems including:
    • CRAHs and CRACs
    • Chillers
    • Humidification and de-humidification systems
    • RTUs and CDUs
    • Water purification systems
  • Identify issues and lead root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation efforts
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Oversee customer service requests with urgency and professionalism
  • Perform hands-on PM/CM activities as needed
  • Develop and execute MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe, high-quality work
  • Support regional reporting and customer QBRs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in ticketing and work order systems

This role blends technical depth, operational ownership, and leadership visibility.

What You Bring

We’re looking for a strong mechanical professional who thrives in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience managing data center mechanical infrastructure
  • 3+ years leading or mentoring service technicians, serving as an escalation point on complex issues
  • Deep knowledge of cooling and mechanical systems within a data center environment
  • Experience developing and executing MOPs/EOPs/SOPs
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering plans
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence
