Role Summary
The Lead Protection & Control Engineer will support Transmission & Distribution substations, responsible for the design and coordination of protection and control systems for utility‐scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead substation protection & control systems
- Develop P&C deliverables including:

- One‐line and three‐line diagrams
- Protection and control schematics
- Wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and tripping logic
- Select and configure protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens)
- Apply IEC 61850 substation automation standards
- Coordinate with designers, relay setting engineers, and commissioning teams
- Support FAT, SAT, outages, and commissioning activities
- Interface with customers, vendors, and project leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in substation Protection & Control
- Hands‐on experience creating P&C drawings
- Experience with protective relays and protection schemes
- Utility, EPC, or OEM background
- Familiarity with IEC 61850
- Ability to work hybrid in Pleasant Hill, CA
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
Qualifications
- PE license or EIT
- Experience with Aspen OneLiner, ETAP, or SKM
- Experience with data centers, BESS, FACTS, or HVDC projects
- Knowledge of NERC CIP standards
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule (2 days onsite)
- Long‐term contract with stable workload
