Position Overview

The Licensing Manager will lead all regulatory and licensing activities for AMPERAs advanced nuclear systems, overseeing interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy (DOE), and other relevant agencies. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing licensing strategies, managing compliance documentation, and ensuring that AMPERAs reactor and fuel programs meet all applicable federal and state regulations.

The ideal candidate brings strong regulatory experience in the nuclear sector, a deep understanding of licensing pathways for novel reactor designs, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overall licensing strategy for AMPERAs micro-reactor systems and supporting technologies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the NRC, DOE, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare, review, and submit licensing applications, technical reports, and safety documentation.
  • Coordinate regulatory reviews and audits, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
  • Lead internal compliance programs, ensuring adherence to NRC and DOE standards, export control, and nuclear material handling regulations.
  • Support the engineering and safety teams in the interpretation of regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor evolving nuclear policies and licensing frameworks relevant to advanced reactors.
  • Mentor and support the Licensing Engineer and other regulatory staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in nuclear licensing, regulatory compliance, or safety analysis.
  • Proven track record managing licensing activities for nuclear reactors, fuel facilities, or similar technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of 10 CFR Part 50, Part 52, and Part 70, or comparable frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in technical documentation and government correspondence.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
