Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay: $20 to $28 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • An Outside Plant (OSP) Technician installs, splices, tests, and repairs fiber optic and copper cable networks in aerial, underground, and buried environments. They are responsible for building infrastructure, performing fusion splicing, installing cabinets, and troubleshooting, often requiring 100% travel. This role demands adherence to safety standards, accurate documentation, and sometimes, emergency, after-hours work.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Fiber Splicing & Termination: Perform mechanical and fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber cables.
  • Outside Plant Installation: Place, rearrange, and remove aerial, underground, and buried cable, including placing cable in conduits or on poles.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Use OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and Fluke testers to troubleshoot, test, and certify fiber/copper, identifying faults.
  • Infrastructure Support: Build cable vaults, maintain manholes, and install closures.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete required paperwork, including time sheets, material transfers, and work orders.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Experience: Typically requires experience in the structured cabling or OSP industry.
  • Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move up to 75 lbs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of codes, fiber handling, and using tools like bucket trucks or splicing trailers.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work in various weather conditions, at heights

 

Pay Transparency
The anticipated salary range for this position is $20 to $28 Per Hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
