Job Description
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician Level 3 serves as the Senior Technical Lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical infrastructure and manufacturing automation. This role is responsible for system reliability, advanced diagnostics, root-cause analysis, mentoring junior staff, and leading emergency response for power, cooling, or production-impacting events.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Systems (120–480 VAC)
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems, breaker panels, motor starters, VFDs, and control circuits.
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and arc-flash boundaries.
- Critical Power Systems
- Oversee PMs, load bank testing, and troubleshooting of generators, ATS systems, UPS systems, and switchgear.
- Respond to alarms and critical events impacting uptime.
- HVAC, Power Generators & Air compressors equipment & Mechanical Systems
- Perform PMs and troubleshoot on air handlers, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water pumps, industrial chillers, cooling towers, Power generators and Air compressors.
- Diagnose refrigerant cycle issues, perform motor replacements, align pumps, identify and resolve air/liquid leaks and analyze system performance.
- Automation & Controls
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled automation, I/O faults, servo motors, pneumatics, and sensors.
- Support production line reliability and improvement efforts.
- Predictive Maintenance & Reliability
- Analyze vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and performance data to prevent failures.
- Drive reliability improvements and root-cause corrective actions.
- Leadership & Vendor Management
- Lead complex maintenance projects and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
- Manage spare parts, critical asset inventories, and contractor oversight.
- Coordinate major vendor services (chiller overhauls, generator service).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expert electrical troubleshooting skills (True RMS meters, amp clamps).
- Advanced mechanical and HVAC knowledge (thermodynamics, hydraulics, pneumatics).
- PLC hardware troubleshooting and logic interpretation.
- Advanced CMMS reporting and planning capabilities.
Certifications (Required/): - EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Required) - NFPA 70E / Arc Flash Training (Required) - HVAC Certification (Required)
Experience: 5–7+ years in data centers, industrial manufacturing, or critical environments.
