If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About This Role:
Join Crusoe Energy as our Electrical Engineering Manager. In this role, you will own the day-to-day technical execution of our growing electrical engineering team. Reporting directly to the Sr. Engineering Manager, you will act as the vital connective tissue between strategic design direction and highly efficient project delivery. Your leadership will ensure our Modular Data Centers, Low Voltage Switchboards, Medium Voltage Switchgear, and Power Distribution Centers are shipped on time, on spec, and in full compliance with rigorous engineering and safety standards.
This is primarily an execution-focused and people leadership role. You will manage a talented team of Electrical Engineers and Designers, own the electrical engineering project queue, and serve as the final technical reviewer for all electrical deliverables. By implementing standards and workflows established at the department level, driving continuous improvement within your team, and ensuring our manufacturing facilities always have the resources they need, you will enable Crusoe’s rapid, sustainable digital infrastructure growth.
What You’ll Be Working On:
-
Team Leadership & People Management: Directly manage a dedicated team of Electrical Engineers and Designers. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, perform objective performance reviews, facilitate professional growth conversations, and foster a team culture centered on technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
-
Mentorship & Talent Development: Cultivate deep technical capabilities and design skills within the engineering team through hands-on mentorship, structured code reviews, peer learning initiatives, and targeted training. Identify skill gaps and work with the Sr. Engineering Manager to inform hiring priorities.
-
Queue & Resource Execution: Take full ownership of the electrical engineering workqueue. Allocate projects based on expertise, individual bandwidth, and production schedule priorities to ensure zero assembly bottlenecks and maintain accurate project status visibility.
-
Manufacturing & Procurement Alignment: Coordinate directly with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management to execute seamless design-to-production handoffs, proactively surfacing schedule risks before they become production constraints.
-
Technical Design Review: Serve as the primary technical reviewer for all electrical engineering deliverables, including schematics, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, load calculations, Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) analyses, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
-
Peer Review & Quality Assurance: Oversee the electrical peer review process, ensuring that all drawing packages are checked, released, and delivered to the manufacturing floor in a fully production-ready state. Provide clear, decisive technical direction on design changes.
-
Regulatory & Code Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs comply strictly with UL 508A, UL 891, Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA 70E standards. Support the preparation of documentation and test records required to maintain UL certifications and successfully pass third-party inspections.
-
Industry & Agency Engagement: Build subject matter expertise in compliance standards across the team. Partner with the Sr. Engineering Manager on strategic engagement with UL, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and third-party inspection agencies.
-
Standards & Data Integrity: Implement and uphold Crusoe’s electrical design standards (including wiring methodologies, drawing conventions, and BOM structures). Champion data integrity within PDM and ERP systems to ensure all designs are properly revision-controlled.
-
Continuous Handoff Improvement: Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering on the shop floor to resolve design questions. Track recurring issues to drive root-cause improvements in drawing quality, component selection, value engineering, and build documentation.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
-
Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. A registered Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly valued and considered a strong plus.
-
Professional Experience: 7+ years of total experience in electrical design, with a strong preference for candidates coming from power distribution, switchgear manufacturing, or modular industrial equipment environments.
-
Proven Leadership: 2–3+ years of formal experience in a supervisory, lead engineer, or managerial capacity directing teams of electrical engineers and designers.
-
Technical & Analytical Depth: Hands-on design expertise with low voltage switchboards (UL 891), industrial control panels (UL 508A), and/or medium voltage switchgear. Proven capability performing load calculations, SCCR analyses, and generating high-quality production drawing packages.
-
Regulatory & Code Expertise: Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL certification requirements as applied to custom manufactured electrical equipment.
-
Clear Technical Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver actionable feedback during design reviews and translate complex engineering challenges into priority actions for manufacturing and executive leadership.
-
Design & ERP Tools: Highly proficient with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent) and product data management (PDM/ERP) systems within a rapid manufacturing environment.
Bonus Points:
-
Direct experience with Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear design and integration (38kV class and below).
-
Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or SCADA control system integration in utility-scale power distribution networks.
-
Professional background in modular construction, prefabricated equipment, or hyperscale data center power infrastructure.
-
Hands-on experience supporting UL field inspections, factory witness tests, or Laboratory Inspection Report (LIR) processes.
-
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies applied directly to engineering workflows.
Benefits:
-
Competitive compensation and equity packages
-
