The Opportunity
As a Master Electrician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring all electrical systems are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance. This role supports complex, high-demand environments where uptime and reliability are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Operations
- Maintain and operate electrical systems supporting servers, UPS systems, switchboards, and emergency backup generators.
- Oversee electrical panels, cabling, circuit breakers, transformers, and distribution systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Manage system layouts and configurations for maximum efficiency and code compliance.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair faults or outages across electrical systems.
- Conduct regular electrical testing (low-, medium-, and high-voltage), including insulation resistance and ground continuity.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on PDUs, panels, and backup systems.
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and mentor electrical teams, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with HVAC, mechanical, and networking teams to maintain system integration.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce electrical safety procedures and maintain adherence to all local and codes.
- Serve as a safety leader on-site, maintaining a culture of accountability.
- Train and mentor apprentices and journeymen in best practices and compliance.
Ongoing Improvements
- Identify system improvements for efficiency, uptime, and sustainability.
- Recommend electrical upgrades supporting high-density power systems for modern data environments.
- Stay current on evolving electrical technologies and standards.
Qualifications
- Licensed Master Electrician with 5+ years of hands-on experience in data centers, industrial, or high-demand environments.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, power distribution, and emergency power systems (generators, UPS).
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Deep understanding of NEC codes, OSHA standards, and NFPA 70E regulations.
- Proven experience managing teams and electrical projects under critical timelines.
