Summary Objective
The Material Control Foreman is responsible for supervising day-to-day material control activities for an assigned trade area, including Mechanical, Structural, IMP, or Electrical. This role ensures materials are received, staged, issued, and controlled in accordance with established procedures to support production schedules and trade-specific requirements. The Foreman serves as the primary point of coordination between Material Control personnel and their assigned trade, ensuring accuracy, availability, and compliance with safety and 6S standards.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct supervision to Material Control personnel supporting the assigned trade (Mechanical, Structural, IMP, or Electrical).
- Coordinate daily material flow activities to support production schedules and trade priorities.
- Ensure proper receipt, identification, labeling, and traceability of materials within the assigned trade area.
- Oversee staging, kitting, and issuance of materials to ensure correct parts and quantities are delivered to point-of-use.
- Monitor material movement, replenishment, and storage to maintain organization and accessibility.
- Conduct routine checks to verify inventory accuracy and assist with discrepancy resolution.
- Ensure proper segregation and control of damaged, missing, or nonconforming (NG) materials.
- Coordinate ship-loose materials and packaging requirements specific to the assigned trade.
- Maintain established 5S/6S standards within material storage, staging, and handling areas.
- Enforce safety requirements related to material handling and equipment use.
- Communicate material shortages, delays, or issues to the Material Control Superintendent or Manager in a timely manner.
- Support cross-shift handoffs by ensuring materials are staged and communicated appropriately.
- Assist with training and onboarding of Material Control personnel assigned to the trade.
- Provide daily direction, feedback, and task assignments to assigned employees.

Work Location
This position is located at a Manufacturing Facility. This position is not approved for telecommuting or remote work.
Work Environment
Work is performed in both office and production floor environments, with regular exposure to indoor and outdoor storage and staging areas.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Evening or weekend work may be required based on production needs.
Travel
Occasional local travel may be required. Limited travel to job sites or suppliers may be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
- Experience in one of the following trades: Mechanical, Structural, IMP, or Electrical.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in material control, logistics, inventory handling, or trade-specific material coordination within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with 5S/6S and standard material control practices.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and reporting tools.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Education and Experience
- Experience supervising material support activities for a specific trade.
- Experience in a lead, acting foreman, or supervisory role .
- Working knowledge of material requirements, tooling, and documentation specific to the assigned trade.
- Forklift or material-handling equipment experience.
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
