Overview: Sterling Engineering is seeking a Data Center Mechanical Commissioning Provider to support mission-critical projects and ensure successful delivery of commissioned facilities to clients. This role will work closely with project teams to execute testing, commissioning, and turnover activities within complex data center environments. Candidates should have strong mechanical commissioning experience, leadership ability, and a willingness to travel extensively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with project team members to successfully deliver commissioned buildings to clients
- Perform commissioning activities focused on mechanical systems in data center environments
- Execute and oversee performance testing procedures and scripts
- Support scheduling coordination and facility layout planning
- Lead small teams of company support personnel during testing execution
- Review and interpret construction documentation including OPR, BOD, plans, and specifications
- Assist with development of load bank plans ()
- Support creation of commissioning plans and project documentation
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in data center commissioning (electrical or mechanical)
- Experience with performance testing and system validation
- Ability to write test procedures and commissioning scripts
- Strong understanding of scheduling and facility layouts
- Experience leading small teams in field execution environments
- Experience developing load bank plans
- Experience developing commissioning plans
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 5+ years of equivalent experience in MEP construction, commissioning, and project management
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Building Commissioning Certification
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Schedule:
- Remote position
Travel Requirements:
- 50%–70% travel required, including travel to Chicago during Q4
