Senior Mechanical Design Engineer\n\n Birmingham (Hybrid)\n Up to £55,000 + Pension + Flexible Working\n Permanent\n\nI'm working with an established and growing engineering business that supports global OEMs across construction equipment, trucks, agriculture, and wider industrial markets. With a strong international presence (UK, USA, Germany, Sweden, India, China), they're continuing to invest in their UK engineering capability.\n\nThey're now looking to bring in a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support a pipeline of innovative projects-particularly within engine ancillaries and emerging e-pump technologies.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a key part in both concept and detailed design, working closely with a collaborative engineering team and engaging with customers and suppliers.\n\nKey responsibilities:\n\nDesign and development of engine ancillaries (oil, water & fuel pumps)\nConcept and detailed design of e-pumps for data centre applications\nFirst-principles design and problem-solving across new product development\nCreate 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings\nEnsure designs are optimised for manufacture (DFM focus)\nSupport DFMEA activities and engineering validation\nWork closely with the Chief Engineer and cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges\nProduce technical reports and documentation\nLiaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersWhat They're Looking For\n\nEssential:\n\nDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)\nMinimum 5 years' industry experience in a design-focused role\nStrong 3D CAD skills (ideally Creo)\nExperience designing with metals and plastics\nSolid understanding of GD&T\nExperience with DFMEA and Design for Manufacture (DFM)\nBackground working on electromechanical productsDesirable:\n\nExperience with rotating components (bearings, seals, gears, pulleys)\nExposure to concept design and new product developmentWhat's on Offer\n\nSalary up to £55,000\nFlexible hybrid working\nPension scheme\nOpportunity to work on innovative, forward-looking projects\nCareer progression within a growing global engineering group
