Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 Annually (Based on experience)

Role Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer will take the lead in engineering and coordinating advanced mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and process piping, across large commercial and industrial projects. From concept development to field execution, this role integrates design innovation with construct ability and performance optimization. Key responsibilities include producing detailed mechanical designs and layouts, supporting BIM coordination using Revit MEP and AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with codes and specifications, and collaborating closely with project managers and field teams to maintain seamless delivery.

The ideal candidate brings a strong grasp of mechanical system design, practical experience working with construction teams in a design/build setting, and the ability to translate technical requirements into efficient, real-world solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial projects such as hospitals, data centers, and high-rise buildings.
  • Develop 3D models, layouts, and detailed shop drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment selections.
  • Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, SMACNA, and other applicable codes.
  • Coordinate designs with project managers, VDC teams, and field personnel to ensure constructibility.
  • Participate in design review and coordination meetings with other trades.
  • Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, submittals, and field inquiries.
  • Assist with system commissioning and close-out documentation.

Required Background

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial projects.
  • Experience with hospitals, data centers, or high-rise projects .
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes and standards such as ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and SMACNA.
  • Engineer-In-Training certification ; progress toward Professional Engineer license a plus.
  • Experience working in design-build or design-assist environments strongly .
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams in a fast-paced environment.
