The Role
We are seeking an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Design & Product Development team in London. Reporting to the Head of Design & Product Development, you will be responsible for developing next- mechanical infrastructure designs for data centres, including multi-MW heat rejection systems, heat export, hall-scale air cooling, and direct-to-chip cooling technologies.
This global role offers the chance to work with cooling technology vendors, systems integrators, and the wider supply chain, while collaborating with local development and operations teams across facilities in the UK, Finland, and Iceland. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in major infrastructure projects who enjoys seeing their designs progress through to construction and operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical infrastructure design from strategic brief to operational handover.
- Build and manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, ensuring feasibility, compliance, and innovation during early project stages.
- Research and evaluate new cooling and energy technologies, preparing technical whitepapers to inform the product roadmap.
- Take ownership of product development initiatives from concept through to launch.
- Partner with global operations and development teams to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design or delivery of major infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with Revit.
- Chartered or working towards professional accreditation.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives or projects through to completion.
- Interest in the built environment, sustainable infrastructure, and technology.
- Willingness to travel internationally (UK, Finland, Iceland).
