Facilities Project Engineer – Mechanical Designer

Nexeo HR Staffing is hiring a Mechanical Designer for a direct-hire, full-time, on-site role in Ogden, UT, supporting the design of large, mission-critical facilities. This position focuses on facility-level mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and infrastructure design, within highly regulated environments.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience designing complex facilities such as data centers, industrial plants, hospitals, energy or nuclear facilities, and large commercial buildings. Candidates whose experience is limited to manufacturing equipment or production lines will not be a fit.

This position offers a 9x80 work schedule (every other Friday off), paid overtime, relocation assistance for non-local candidates, and long-term project stability.

Responsibilities

Prepare 2D CAD intelligent Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from sketches and marked-up drawings

Support mechanical and HVAC facility design, including piping layouts and system documentation

Review drawings and documents prepared by others to ensure compliance with:

Drafting standards

Discipline requirements

Applicable codes and standards

Maintain data integrity for component lists and design databases

Coordinate within a multi-disciplinary project team to resolve design issues

Meet project schedules while delivering high-quality, detail-driven work products

Apply redlines accurately and consistently across design deliverables

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (including marijuana)
• Valid Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued ID
• Strong facility-focused mechanical design experience (required)
• HVAC systems
• Piping and infrastructure layouts
• Large, complex facilities
• Manufacturing or equipment-only design experience is not sufficient
• Proficiency with:
• AutoCAD
• SmartPlant P&ID (; AutoCAD candidates may be trained)
• MicroStation, PDS2D / PDS3D (plus)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working in a project-driven engineering environment
• ???? Experience & Education Requirements (Combined Level)
• High School Diploma / GED + 6–10+ years of relevant mechanical design experience

OR

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) + 2–6+ years of related mechanical design experience
• Senior-level candidates with 10+ years of facility design experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Energy, nuclear, or petrochemical sites
• Data centers or critical infrastructure
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards

Pay

$95,000 – $125,000 DOE
