Mechanical Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: 100-115K
The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, suppliers, and customers to develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. This position plays a key role in supporting new product development, improving existing products and processes, and providing technical leadership within the engineering team.
Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including mechanics, materials, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.
- Advanced experience with mechanical product design, assembly design, and production support.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and BOM management.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and design documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, molding, assembly, and
- testing.
- Ability to evaluate product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost impact.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Ability to support prototype builds, product validation, and design verification activities.
- Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, operations, suppliers, and
- customers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering priorities, projects, and production support needs.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on product quality, efficiency, and long-term
- reliability.
Qualifications / Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10+ years of mechanical engineering or mechanical product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting industrial products, cable assemblies, connectors, or related mechanical/electromechanical assemblies .
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools and technologies.
- Experience supporting products from concept through production release.
- Experience supporting engineering changes, cost reduction initiatives, and manufacturing process improvements.
- Experience in oil & gas, industrial, energy, or data center environments is .
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and engineered product solutions.
- Lead mechanical design efforts for new and existing products from concept through production release.
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Research new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, and product qualification activities.
- Analyze product performance, test data, and manufacturing issues to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Improve manufacturability, product reliability, and production efficiency through design improvements and process optimization.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, operations, suppliers, and customers on technical requirements and engineering-related matters.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to product or manufacturing issues.
- Support cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects across engineering and manufacturing operations.
- Provide hands-on engineering support on the production floor as needed.
- Ensure designs and engineering documentation comply with customer, regulatory, and internal engineering standards.
- Mentor and support junior engineering team members and provide technical guidance when needed.
Physical / Environmental Requirements:
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move through production areas as needed to support inspections, audits, and issue resolution.
- May require occasional lifting of parts, fixtures, or inspection equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, inspection tools, and electrical/mechanical test equipment.
- May be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Security Access:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to successfully pass a government background investigation.
