About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and driven Mechanical Engineer to join our growing sheet metal fabrication team. This engineer will design and develop precision sheet metal components, create fabrication documentation, collaborate closely with production teams, and support continual improvement in manufacturability, quality, and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical depth, hands-on experience, and leadership capability within a fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Create and optimize sheet metal components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to support manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing Process: Work with production teams to refine designs for manufacturability, considering processes like laser cutting, punching, bending/forming, welding, and assembling.
  • Material and Cost Analysis: Select appropriate materials and conduct cost analysis for projects, if applicable.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure all products meet industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement solutions to improve production processes.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and production staff.
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines and contribute to estimating and quoting activities.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Prior experience with CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending/forming, welding, and assembly).
  • Knowledge of material properties, metallurgy, sheet metal gauges, and structural materials.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Highly detail-oriented, accurate, and self-checking.

  • 2 or more years of experience with CAD software, particularly with sheet metal features.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending/forming, welding, and assembly).
  • Previous experience supporting cross-functional teams.
