Role Overview
Responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a project (or designated section), ensuring all safety, technical, financial, and managerial aspects are executed to a high standard. This includes involvement from bid stage through to project handover, with a focus on maintaining or improving profitability through effective leadership, strong client relationships, and coordination of internal support functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible and proactive leadership in health and safety across all areas of the project.
- Ensure compliance with internal safety protocols and external regulations, working closely with senior management and H&S teams.
- Deliver projects in accordance with quality management systems and standardised processes to ensure consistent client satisfaction.
- Contribute to bid and proposal development, ensuring submissions are competitive, compliant, and commercially viable.
- Oversee pre-start planning and coordination to optimise delivery efficiency and financial performance.
- Review scopes of work and installation methodologies to align with client requirements and best practice.
- Maintain effective relationships with the supply chain, understanding escalation routes to resolve disputes or delays swiftly.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to manage subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities, ensuring a clear understanding of their commercial impact.
- Lead delivery teams to ensure subcontracted works are carried out safely, on time, and to specification.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with key subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Define clear objectives and expectations for project teams, monitoring performance and providing feedback and support as needed.
- Manage internal and external reporting, using appropriate tools and formats, ensuring accurate and timely project updates.
- Collaborate closely with commercial leads to ensure contract obligations are met and risks mitigated.
- Maintain strong customer engagement to understand evolving needs and ensure delivery aligns with expectations.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards, managing close-out and defect resolution efficiently.
- Oversee proper management and archiving of project communication and documentation.
- Represent the company at industry events and client engagements to support relationship development.
- Act as a subject matter expert in relevant sectors, offering insights and guidance as required.
- Conduct staff performance reviews, identifying development needs and supporting progression within the team.
- Foster a culture of growth and learning by mentoring and coaching team members.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Legal right to work in the country of operation.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong background in construction and M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) project delivery.
- Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers or similar high-spec sectors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Solid understanding of financial metrics, project cost control, and P&L management.
- Relevant safety and professional certifications (e.g. SMSTS, IOSH, CSCS, ECS or equivalent).
