Role Overview
We’re seeking a Mechanical QCx Specialist to support the quality control and commissioning of critical mechanical systems on a hyperscale data center project in Reno, NV. This role ensures all systems are installed to spec, rigorously tested, and turned over fully operational. Validating contractor work, coordinating inspections and tests, and helping drive system start-up and commissioning to a successful close.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control (QC):
- Inspect installation of mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and piping.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and as-builts for compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain detailed QC documentation, deficiency logs, and punch lists.
- Ensure contractor adherence to safety, quality, and design standards.
Commissioning (Cx):
- Support and witness start-up, testing, and functional performance verification of mechanical systems.
- Execute and track commissioning checklists, test scripts, and turnover packages.
- Coordinate with controls engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to validate system operation.
- Document test results and assist in resolving commissioning issues.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of mechanical field experience in data centers, semiconductor fabs, or other mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems: HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, pumps, CRAC/CRAH, etc.
- Prior QA/QC and/or commissioning experience required.
- Familiarity with commissioning tools, checklists, and test documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
