Mechanical Shift Engineer

As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining operational continuity across critical mechanical systems, ensuring zero downtime in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment.

The Role

In this Mechanical Shift Engineer position, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of essential building services systems during a large-scale infrastructure upgrade.

Key responsibilities include:

Overseeing and supporting mechanical systems throughout a major refurbishment project
Carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on air source heat pumps and HVAC equipment
Working collaboratively with electrical engineers and wider engineering teams to maintain system integrity
Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical plant
Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and compliance standards
Responding quickly to technical issues in a live TV and broadcasting environment where service continuity is critical
Supporting operational excellence within a complex critical facilities environment About You

To succeed as a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you’ll need strong technical knowledge, excellent fault-finding ability, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.

You will ideally have:

A Level 3 qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
Proven experience within building services, facilities management, or critical environments
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems
Experience working with air source heat pumps and associated mechanical plant
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
The ability to remain calm and effective within high-pressure operational environments
Previous experience in critical facilities, data centres, broadcasting, or healthcare environments would be advantageous What’s In It For You?
