Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off – Days & Nights

Salary: £46,000 - £48,000

Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time

About the Role

Skilled Career are working with one off our committed clients for an experienced and proactive Mechanical Shift Engineer to join their Facilities Management team, maintaining and improving the performance of a commercial building within a high-profile environment.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all mechanical plant and equipment across the site — supporting both planned maintenance and reactive repairs as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, motors, valves, AHUs, FCUs, and water systems

Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical plant and associated controls

Ensure all statutory and company standards are met for pressure systems, water hygiene, and HVAC compliance

Support critical infrastructure including chilled water, boilers, compressors, and BMS

Maintain detailed maintenance records and assist with audits and compliance reporting

Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and the FM team to ensure a safe and effective working environment

Qualifications & Experience

Recognised Mechanical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

Proven experience within commercial or critical building services environments (e.g. FM, data centres, hospitals, or corporate offices)

Strong understanding of HVAC systems, water treatment, and building plant operations

Good fault-finding, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills

Additional electrical or BMS experience would be beneficial
