Mechanical/Thermal Engineer - Liquid Cooling

Job Description

About Cooler Master

Cooler Master is a global leader in thermal management and cooling solutions. Due to our strong market growth and increasing demand from major data center and high-tech customers, we are expanding our operations and strengthening our presence in the United States.

This expansion supports our growing presence in the data center and AI infrastructure market and enables us to better serve leading global technology companies and hyperscale data center customers.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Thermal Engineer to design and develop advanced liquid cooling solutions for high-performance computing and data center applications. This role combines mechanical design, thermal analysis, prototype validation, and product development across the full product lifecycle.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on hardware design, prototype testing, and product development, with emphasis on practical implementation rather than research or academic work.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Product Development

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for liquid cooling systems (cold plates, manifolds, CDUs, enclosures, piping)
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
  • Perform tolerance analysis, DFM/DFX, and support supplier manufacturing
  • Build and test prototypes; analyze results and improve designs
  • Generate engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and ECOs
  • Support NPI, pilot builds, and production ramp
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and cross-functional teams

Thermal Analysis & Validation

  • Perform system- and component-level thermal analysis to ensure performance and reliability
  • Conduct CFD simulations for airflow, temperature distribution, and pressure drop
  • Develop and optimize liquid cooling solutions including cold plates, heat exchangers, and system-level architectures
  • Set up thermal measurements using thermocouples, IR cameras, and DAQ systems
  • Correlate simulation results with experimental data and support design optimization

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Mandarin and English is must
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics
  • Experience with liquid cooling, thermal systems, or high-power hardware
  • Experience with commercial CFD tools (FloEFD, Flotherm, Star-CCM+, Ansys, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Creo, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
  • Experience with product development and NPI
  • Work in lab environments and handle equipment up to 30–40 lbs as needed
