Job Title: MEP Project Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)

Position Summary:
The MEP Project Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) will oversee all aspects of safety, compliance, quality assurance, and turnover procedures related to capital projects within a data center environment. This role ensures that newly deployed infrastructure and systems meet operational and safety standards before being transitioned to the operations team. The manager will act as a key liaison among internal teams, contractors, and clients to maintain strict adherence to procedures, codes, and project requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Safety Committee Representative for the assigned campus or region.
  • Enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies across all project sites.
  • Collaborate with the Training Manager to ensure proper and timely training for all staff on newly implemented infrastructure and equipment.
  • Facilitate and critique emergency drills in coordination with senior site leadership and training staff.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and runbooks for all capital projects.
  • Oversee project turnover processes, ensuring all documentation, systems, and operations meet acceptance criteria.
  • Drive completion of punch lists associated with construction and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct QA/QC on all procedures and documentation related to Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Change Requests (CRs).
  • Approve Level 1 and Level 2 change requests as designated by site leadership.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of building systems and critical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Evaluate and monitor the performance and safety compliance of both employees and contractors.
  • Maintain consistent communication with tenants, clients, owners, and third-party vendors involved in capital projects.
  • Support documentation updates such as as-built drawings and system schematics.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Act as a technical resource and subject matter expert to field technicians and site operations staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal departments, customers, and external contractors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing critical building systems and infrastructure.
  • Professional mechanical or electrical licenses strongly .
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex documentation including project specifications, AutoCAD drawings, Visio diagrams, and PDFs.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate efforts across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and implement installation standards and project tracking tools.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication, including the ability to address complex issues and make formal presentations.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws, building codes, and industry regulations relevant to MEP and data center projects.
  • Experience developing Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and capital budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with limited available data.
  • Ability to work independently and interpret instructions across various formats (written, verbal, visual).
  • High commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and openness to process innovation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Occasional travel required for training, audits, or project coordination.
