Job Description
We are seeking an experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor for a 12-month contract to support the delivery of a major life sciences project in Germany. Please not this opportunity is full time onsite.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of mechanical, electrical and public health packages, working closely with the project, engineering, procurement and construction teams. The role will suit a commercially focused MEP QS with experience delivering complex, high-value and technically demanding projects.

Experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, data centres or other highly serviced environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Take commercial responsibility for assigned MEP packages throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage budgets, commitments, valuations, forecasts and cost reporting.
- Review and assess subcontractor payment applications and progress.
- Measure and value MEP works and prepare commercial assessments.
- Manage variations, change orders, claims and compensation events.
- Review subcontractor quotations and provide commercial recommendations.
- Support the procurement and appointment of MEP subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Prepare tender comparisons, scope reviews and commercial evaluations.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against contractual and commercial requirements.
- Manage subcontractor accounts through to agreement of final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and ensure these are appropriately recorded and managed.
- Maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, accruals and commitment records.
- Work closely with the project engineering and construction teams to understand technical scope and commercial impact.
- Attend commercial, progress, design and coordination meetings.
- Ensure changes arising from design development, RFIs, client instructions and site conditions are commercially captured.
- Provide clear commercial reporting and advice to the Senior QS / Commercial Manager.
- Support the project team in maintaining strong cost control and commercial governance.

MEP / Life Sciences Experience
\n
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of MEP systems and, ideally, experience working within technically complex or regulated environments.

An understanding of the commercial impact of commissioning, testing, qualification and validation requirements within life sciences projects would be advantageous.

Candidate Requirements

- Proven experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor.
- Strong mechanical and electrical services knowledge.
- Experience managing MEP subcontract packages on major construction projects.
- Strong experience in valuations, variations, change control, procurement and final accounts.
- Good understanding of construction contracts and subcontract administration.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Strong Excel and commercial reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial packages.

- Experience with cleanrooms and controlled environments.
- Experience on large-scale MEP-intensive projects.
- Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience managing high-value MEP subcontract packages.
