About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Microsoft Exchange Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program within the Treasury Foreign Intelligence Network (TFIN) — a highly secure, 24/7 classified enterprise environment.

This role operates at the Tier 3 engineering level, supporting a multi-site Exchange 2019/SE and hybrid infrastructure where reliability, performance, and operational continuity are essential. You’ll work alongside engineering, network, and data center teams to sustain a high-availability messaging environment supporting critical security operations.

What You’ll Do

Exchange Engineering & Administration

• Administer and maintain a multi-site Microsoft Exchange 2019 / SE enterprise environment
• Monitor system health, including:
• • Transport pipelines
  • Mailbox and database performance
  • DAG replication and availability
• Develop and execute PowerShell scripts for automation, system auditing, reporting, and mailbox optimization
• Manage Exchange backups, disaster recovery, and COOP readiness
• Support Exchange Hybrid architecture for coexistence with Microsoft 365

Operations & Lifecycle Management

• Perform patching, cumulative updates, and version upgrades
• Maintain system stability through proactive monitoring and maintenance
• Ensure compliance with:
• • Treasury classified system standards
  • STIGs
  • FISMA
  • NIST 800-53
  • ICD 503
  • CNSSI 1253

Documentation & Reporting

• Develop and maintain:
• • Technical SOPs
  • Configuration documentation
  • Knowledge base articles
  • System diagrams and workflows
• Support recurring government deliverables, including:
• • Daily health status checks
  • Weekly operations and security summaries
  • Monthly performance and uptime reporting
  • Incident reports, AARs, and change documentation

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with:
• • Server, Network, and Telecom teams
  • Development teams
  • Tier 1–3 Help Desk personnel
  • Data Center Operations Engineering
• Support Tier 3 escalations and troubleshoot complex enterprise issues

After-Hours Support

• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency support
• Must be able to:
• • Respond within 60 minutes
  • Report on-site within 90 minutes, if required

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance (SCI eligibility required; recent SSBI )
• Hands-on experience with:
• • Microsoft Exchange 2013 / 2016 / 2019 / SE
  • Exchange Hybrid environments
  • DAG management and troubleshooting
• Strong PowerShell scripting for enterprise administration and automation
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Understanding of federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks

Qualifications

• Experience supporting classified or intelligence community environments
• Familiarity with:
• • VMware, Citrix
  • AWS or Azure environments
  • DoD cybersecurity tools (HBSS, ACAS)
• Certifications such as:
• • Security+, CASP, CISSP (IAT II / III)
