Position: IT Network Engineer

Job Summary
The IT Network Engineer responsibilities include infrastructure support, technical planning, implementation for networking and security systems owned by South Central Regional Medical Center. Specific responsibilities include installing and supporting networking hardware and software, performing networking upgrades for current infrastructure, evaluating security of organization from networking perspective for entire organization. Network engineers are also responsible for automated monitoring controls that monitor networking health and managing alerts and notifications for early warning when networking health is degraded. Network engineers work collaboratively with Telecom, Systems Engineers, Helpdesk, and Desktop Support Team to ensure maximum uptime and seamless user experience for staff of South Central Regional Medical Center.
Network engineers possess a desire and skillset to work with minimal supervision and in an autonomous state. Network engineers require a solid knowledge of enterprise IT strategies, infrastructure, architecture, automation through scripting, networks, security, and data center operations. Lastly, they must possess superior documentation techniques to ensure there are knowledge resources for new employees or for other teams to utilize.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in problem solving.
- Resolves or facilitates resolution of complex problems for assigned program.
- Participate in taking after-hours calls based on the needs of the organization. (on-call rotation schedule.)
- Provide exceptional customer service for South Central Regional Medical Center users.
- Demonstrates a customer service approach to service delivery and effectively communicates with our customers on requests and incidents.
- Demonstrates motivational attitude.
- Show technical aptitude and ownership of issues across multiple disciplines and technologies.
- May have to work hours outside of normal 8-5 for projects and on call rotation.
- Reports directly to IT Director.
Core Duties:
- Provides evaluation, engineering/design and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions to address corporate business requirements.
- Provides Level 3 support and escalation support for Desktop Support Team and Helpdesk.
- Perform daily production support activities.
- Manage patching and code deployments across all networking environments.
- Lead projects associated with the enhancement or implementation of new or existing technology solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and ownership of issues across multiple disciplines and technologies.
- Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Maintain comprehensive monitoring alert process for networking across entire organization.
- Ensure security and operational standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with SCRMC IT compliance requirements, HIPPA standards, and industry best practices.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Research and recommend appropriate networking administration best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Close support requests in ticketing system in timely manner.
Education and Experience
- 3yrs of Information Technology experience required.
- Prefer previous healthcare IT experience.
- Basic knowledge of networking principles from a Cisco perspective including items listed in essential skill competencies.
- Detailed knowledge or professional certification in networking technology such as;
- Route and Switch
- Wireless
- Security
- A professional certification from either Cisco, VMware, Aruba or Palo Alto.
(If applicant currently does not possess certification in one of these areas the applicant will be allowed 6 months to obtain)
- Minimum of High School Diploma.
- Some college or college degree .
- Determination of Level I, II, III is based on a combination of factors to include but not limited to;
