Network Engineer

AAC is looking for a Network Engineer for a position working onsite for our client located in Columbia, SC.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to end-user requests at multiple support levels, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
• Oversee network and system operations, including:
• • Connectivity & Security: WAN/LAN setup, routers, firewalls, and access control.
  • Infrastructure: Internal systems, cloud platforms, and virtualization environments.
  • Microsoft Ecosystem: Windows OS, Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, and SharePoint.
  • Virtualization Tools: VMware, Horizon View, and related technologies.
  • Remote Access Solutions: VPN, Terminal Services, and secure remote connectivity.
• Monitor system alerts and performance metrics, applying proactive measures to prevent downtime.
• Design and implement network configurations, enforce standards, and document processes.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen system resilience and optimize network performance.
• Investigate and resolve network faults using diagnostic tools and multi-source data.
• Manage firewall administration and enforce security policies in alignment with best practices.
• Support backup and recovery strategies for both virtualized and physical environments.
• Provide remote assistance during installations and troubleshoot deployment issues.
• Maintain IP address allocations and hosted device inventories within data centers.
• Collaborate on cybersecurity programs, including policy enforcement and threat mitigation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years in IT infrastructure or network engineering roles.
• Certifications such as A+ or Security+ ; equivalent experience accepted.
• Strong understanding of networking principles and technologies:
• • Switching protocols (STP, VTP, EtherChannel, LACP).
  • Advanced VoIP and wireless networking.
  • Virtual networking environments (VMware vSphere).
• Familiarity with IT governance processes: change management, capacity planning, and availability monitoring.
• Skilled in troubleshooting with a structured, analytical approach.
• Proficient in Microsoft technologies and virtualization platforms.
