Job DescriptionJob Description
At ASI, we are revolutionizing industries with state-of-the-art autonomous robotics solutions. Within the fields of agriculture, construction, landscaping, and logistics, we deliver technologies that enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency. With our core values of Simplicity, Safety, Transparency, Humility, Attention to Detail, Autonomy and Growth guiding everything we do, we're shaping the future of automation in dynamic markets.
As a Network Engineer, you will design, own, and evolve ASI's global network architecture across corporate, edge, cloud, and field environments. This is a principal level individual contributor role responsible for defining next routing, security, automation, and observability strategies. You will lead enterprise architecture initiatives, mentor engineers, and serve as the highest technical authority for networking across the organization.
This is a project-based employee role supporting the initial development phase of our autonomous vehicle platforms. Development phases of this nature typically span up to approximately 24 months, though scope and duration are driven by business needs.
Responsibilities
-
Architect and own ASI's global network strategy across corporate, edge, cloud, and field environments, including complex multi-site BGP peering, OSPF optimization, SD WAN strategy, traffic engineering, and high availability design.
-
Define and implement advanced network security architecture, including Zero Trust frameworks, segmentation, IDS/IPS, disaster recovery strategy, VPN design, and enterprise risk assessments aligned with industry standards.
-
Lead large scale automation and infrastructure as code initiatives using Python, Ansible, Terraform, and related tools, including zero touch provisioning and software defined networking across distributed edge sites.
-
Design and validate high fidelity network simulations and digital twins to model fleet wide behavior under load, degraded connectivity, grey box failures, and high latency edge scenarios before production deployment.
-
Architect global observability and telemetry systems using SNMP, gRPC, streaming telemetry, deep packet inspection, and predictive monitoring to proactively identify and mitigate outages.
-
Serve as senior technical authority and escalation point, mentor engineers, lead cross functional architecture reviews, and drive long term infrastructure modernization aligned with robotics and autonomous deployment roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
-
Ten or more years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, architecture, or network security roles.
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
-
Expert level knowledge of enterprise routing and switching including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and SD WAN.
-
Proven experience architecting global multi-site network topologies and traffic engineering strategies.
-
Deep expertise in firewall management, VPN architecture, segmentation, and Zero Trust frameworks.
-
Hands on experience implementing IDS/IPS, disaster recovery architectures, and high availability systems.
-
Strong experience with hybrid cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
-
Advanced proficiency in automation and infrastructure as code using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
-
Experience designing and implementing zero touch provisioning at scale.
-
Demonstrated experience building high fidelity network simulations or digital twins for validation and resilience testing.
-
Strong understanding of industrial, robotics, or field deployed networking environments.
-
Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on prem network infrastructures.
-
Experience implementing network segmentation in high security environments.
-
Familiarity with Agile or iterative infrastructure improvement practices.
-
Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent advanced credentials.
-
Proven ability to lead large scale infrastructure initiatives and influence executive level technical strategy.
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.
-
Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.
-
Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
-
Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.
