Network Engineer | Midvale, UT
Nexeo HR is hiring a highly skilled Network Engineer in Midvale, Utah. In this role, you’ll design, implement, maintain, and monitor enterprise-class network environments, including data center switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers. The ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with expertise in LAN/WAN, VPNs, network security, and enterprise networking protocols who thrives in building reliable, scalable, and high-performance network systems. Responsibilities
• Configure, install, and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
• Perform operational support, network maintenance, and system upgrades (patches, hotfixes, security configurations)
• Troubleshoot and resolve network performance, connectivity, and configuration issues
• Plan and implement enterprise network projects, including design, optimization, and upgrades
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning
• Design and maintain network monitoring and management systems
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams on infrastructure projects and implementations
• Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis, including after-hours and weekends
• Mentor junior network staff and act as a technical leader for the operations team
• Research and recommend hardware/software upgrades for improved performance and security
• Ensure network reliability, scalability, and security compliance
• Meet with internal customers to assess needs and implement tailored networking solutions
Qualifications
Technical Experience & Skills
• 7+ years of experience with Data Center Networks, Firewalls, VPNs, and Load Balancers
• Proven success designing and implementing large-scale enterprise networks
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet Switching (Spine-Leaf), and enterprise network monitoring tools
• Ability to manage LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VPNs across enterprise environments
• Professional certification preferred (CCNP, equivalent, or higher)
• Experience with tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, or other network analysis platforms
• Strong understanding of IP addressing (CIDR/IPv4/IPv6) and networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ICMP, QoS, SSL/TLS, etc.)
Education & Other Qualifications
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
• Strong customer service with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and deliver results under deadlines
Pay
• $55 – $62 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type
• Full-Time | Long-term contract opportunity
Shift/Schedule
• Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
