Position Overview
Global IT Communications, Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Level 2 Networking Technician to join our growing team. This role will provide advanced networking support for company operations and clients, a firm understanding of compliance frameworks is required. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Cisco and Ubiquiti networking technologies, extensive experience in low-voltage cabling, and a proven track record of delivering reliable, secure, and compliant network solutions.
This is a hands-on role involving on-site and remote client support, advanced troubleshooting, proactive monitoring, and compliance-driven system management.
Key Responsibilities
Networking & Infrastructure
· Install, configure, & maintain Cisco and Ubiquiti network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs).
· Design, implement, and support LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN networks.
· Perform network segmentation, VLAN configuration, & traffic optimization for security & performance.
· Conduct wireless site surveys and implement Ubiquiti wireless heatmaps for coverage and reliability.
· Diagnose and resolve complex networking issues across multi-vendor environments.
· Is familiar with high availability, supporting and maintaining optimum network performance.
Cabling & Physical Infrastructure
· Perform low-voltage cabling site walk-throughs to scope and plan for installations.
· Ability to complete Cat6/Cat6a and fiber optic runs and installations.
· Ability to organize rack hardware and network installations.
· Terminate, label, and test network cabling to meet industry standards (TIA/EIA).
· Maintain clean, organized network closets, racks, and patch panels.
· Document cabling infrastructure and update as-built diagrams for client records.
Systems, Compliance & Security
· Must understand Microsoft services and be able to support such services for clients.
· Firm understanding of security platforms such as EDR, XDR, Fortinet, Meraki, Sentinel One, etc.
· Support compliance requirements by implementing secure networking practices.
· Ensure system hardening, access controls, and monitoring solutions meet compliance frameworks.
· Collaborate with Information Security team on vulnerability remediation and incident response.
· Maintain accurate logs, change management records, and compliance documentation.
· Must have experience with ticketing systems, updating, and tracking activity, time, etc.
Support & Collaboration
· Provide on-site and remote support for escalated networking issues & work flexible hours if needed.
· Work with internal teams (Systems, Security, Help Desk) to resolve cross-functional IT challenges.
· Train junior technicians and provide knowledge transfer on best practices.
· Communicate effectively with clients, maintaining professionalism and clear updates.
Required Qualifications
· Certifications: Cisco CCNA (or higher) and Ubiquiti UEWA/UBWA (or equivalent).
· Networking Experience: 5+ years supporting enterprise-level Cisco and Ubiquiti networks.
· Cabling Expertise: Proven low-voltage cabling experience (Cat6, Cat6a, fiber) including installation, termination, testing, and documentation.
· Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA and CMMC requirements, including secure networking practices.
· Technical Skills:
o Routing & switching (Cisco CLI)
o VLANs, ACLs, QoS, and VPNs
o Wireless survey, deployment, and troubleshooting (Meraki/Ubiquiti, etc.)
o Network monitoring and SIEM/logging platforms
· Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with ability to work independently in the field.
· Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications
· CCNA or higher-level Cisco certification.
· Experience supporting regulated industries (healthcare/manufacturing/government)
· Familiarity with endpoint security, SIEM, and IDS/IPS platforms.
· Experience working within MSP/MSSP environments.
Employment Standards
· Must pass background check and comply with client site requirements.
· Ability to lift and run cabling (up to 50 lbs.).
· Availability for occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency work as required.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site client support.
