Onsite Project Manager – Data Center Buildouts
Locations: Seattle, WA
Duration: 6+ Month Contract
Rate: $65–$72/hour (higher for candidates with strong union coordination experience)
We are seeking experienced Onsite Project Managers to lead large-scale data center build and deployment initiatives in Seattle. This role is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure PM with deep experience coordinating complex facility, construction, and technology deployments in mission-critical environments.
The Project Manager will serve as the central onsite lead responsible for driving execution across all vendors, contractors, facilities teams, and technical stakeholders involved in the data center build lifecycle. This includes coordinating logistics and dependencies between cabling vendors, rack-and-roll teams, cooling and mechanical providers, facilities partners, electrical contractors, low-voltage installers, and other infrastructure groups.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, can proactively resolve onsite issues, and has a strong understanding of how power, cooling, networking, and physical infrastructure must align for successful deployment and commissioning.
Candidates who understand how to successfully navigate union labor coordination, scheduling, and field operations will stand out significantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead onsite execution of large-scale data center buildouts and infrastructure deployments
- Coordinate logistics and sequencing across multiple vendors and workstreams
- Serve as the primary onsite liaison between customers, contractors, facilities teams, and technical stakeholders
- Drive daily project progress while identifying and resolving blockers in real time
- Manage coordination for cabling, rack-and-stack/rack-and-roll, cooling systems, facilities infrastructure, electrical work, and low-voltage installations
- Conduct site walkthroughs, vendor coordination meetings, and installation reviews
- Ensure all vendors have appropriate access, materials, documentation, and scheduling alignment
- Track project risks, escalations, timelines, and dependencies
- Maintain adherence to safety, compliance, operational, and quality standards
- Support successful commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities
Required Experience
- Proven experience managing onsite data center buildouts, infrastructure deployments, or mission-critical facility projects
- Strong understanding of data center operations, facilities coordination, and physical infrastructure environments
- Experience coordinating multiple vendors and trades simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-moving onsite environments
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and issue-resolution skills
- Experience with construction coordination, facilities logistics, or infrastructure deployment management
Qualifications
- Experience working within union environments (especially for the Chicago site)
- Background managing projects involving power, cooling, networking, structured cabling, and physical infrastructure
- Prior experience in enterprise, colocation, or hyperscale data center environments
- Familiarity with commissioning and turnover processes
This is an excellent opportunity for a field-driven Project Manager who enjoys being onsite, solving problems in real time, and driving complex infrastructure projects to successful completion.
