Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day execution of field operations, serving as the primary point of coordination between Project Managers, Field Installers, and executive leadership. This role ensures projects are properly staffed, scheduled, resourced, and executed to high quality, safety, and performance standards—while minimizing executive involvement in daily operational issues.
This position requires a hands-on, decisive leader with strong construction or security systems experience, capable of managing people, solving problems in real time, and enforcing accountability across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Act as the primary operational buffer between ownership, project management, and field installation teams
- Own day-to-day field operations and execution across all active projects
- Translate executive priorities into clear, actionable direction for PMs and installers
- Identify operational bottlenecks early and resolve them before escalation
Project & Field Coordination
- Coordinate project schedules, manpower planning, and installer assignments
- Ensure proper staffing, travel coordination, and site readiness for each project
- Support Project Managers with execution planning, sequencing, and logistics
- Monitor progress, labor efficiency, and adherence to schedules
Field Team Management
- Lead, support, and hold accountable field installers and foremen
- Enforce installation standards for RF, STC, FEBR, and specialty door systems
- Address performance issues, training gaps, and field discipline concerns
- Conduct regular check-ins with field crews during active installs
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure installations meet PSS quality standards, manufacturer requirements, and contract specifications
- Enforce safety procedures, jobsite compliance, and documentation
- Participate in post-installation reviews and punch list resolution
- Support corrective action plans when issues arise
Process Improvement
- Standardize operational procedures, checklists, and field reporting
- Improve communication flow between PMs, installers, and leadership
- Recommend improvements to scheduling, labor utilization, and field efficiency
- Support scalability as the company grows
Reporting & Accountability
- Provide clear, concise operational updates to ownership
- Escalate only critical risks, delays, or financial impacts
- Track KPIs such as labor productivity, schedule adherence, and rework
- Support PMs with job closeout and lessons learned
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in construction operations, security systems, or specialty trades
- Proven experience managing field crews and project execution
- Strong understanding of commercial construction environments
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and installation details
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Comfortable making decisions and enforcing standards
- Willingness to travel as needed to job sites
Experience
- Experience with high-security environments (government, defense, data centers)
- Familiarity with RF, STC, ballistic, or specialty door systems
- Background working with Project Managers and multiple concurrent projects
- Experience implementing operational processes and SOPs
- Military, defense contractor, or federal project experience a plus
