Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop optical core and access network infrastructure technologies, including hardware and system designs for FTTX and optical products.
  • Evaluate network and service design challenges, proposing innovative solutions using new and existing infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across teams with an open-minded perspective on new ideas, technologies, architectures, and operational approaches.
  • Lead and work with R&D teams to develop operational platforms and analyze proof-of-concept performance.
  • Build lab test systems to evaluate new hardware and software products, supporting transport, metro Ethernet, and access networks.
  • Conduct lab activities including planning tests, acquiring equipment, running tests, and writing reports.
  • Support field trials and network measurement campaigns in collaboration with program and operations teams.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to interpret needs, plan, and discuss progress and results.
  • Perform tasks proactively to ensure project success.

Required Skills

  • Associate or higher degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience working in optics telecommunications systems, broadband, or hybrid fiber coax networks.
  • Solid understanding of networking (copper and optical) components used in data centers and residential networks, including power levels, wavelengths, and problem diagnosis.
  • Strong understanding of data networks, especially at layer 2 and 3.
  • Software development skills such as Python, C/C++, or Go, with familiarity in continuous integration and test case automation.
  • Experience with virtualized platforms and Linux.
  • Ability to interpret test data to determine compliance or identify causes of field issues.
  • Ability to evaluate situations from the end-user/subscriber perspective.

Skills

  • Additional experience in optical communications, optical components, and network architecture.
  • Experience leading cross-domain development teams.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Inclination to act proactively and adapt to project needs.
