Company Overview
KCI Temporary Kitchens is a leading provider of temporary kitchen solutions serving companies and institutions across the country. With over 30 years of industry experience, we deliver fully equipped mobile kitchen facilities capable of supporting operations ranging from 90 to 9,000 meals per day in facilities spanning 480 sq. ft. to 15,000+ sq. ft. Our clients rely on us during planned facility renovations and unexpected service interruptions to keep their operations running without missing a beat.
Position Summary
We are looking for a true hunter, a driven, self-directed sales professional with an established network and the tenacity to open doors at the right organizations. This is a pure commission role with no ceiling. Your book of business, your relationships, and your hustle determine your income.
If you have contacts in construction, facilities management, emergency management, shipbuilding, or institutional food service — this role was built for you.
Target Markets & Ideal Contact Base
KCI's solutions are deployed wherever a large, captive population still needs to be fed during a kitchen disruption or emergency. The ideal candidate already has, or can quickly build, relationships in one or more of the following sectors:
Construction & General Contractors
- GCs and construction managers overseeing hospital, prison, university, or institutional renovation projects.
- Subcontractors and project managers on large commercial or government builds where food service infrastructure is affected.
- Design-build firms with active healthcare, corrections, or government facility portfolios.
Shipbuilding & Maritime
- Shipyard operators and facility managers responsible for feeding large daily workforces during dock operations or new builds.
- Naval base facilities with large contracted labor populations requiring temporary or supplemental food service.
- Marine and offshore contractors with remote site operations.
Healthcare & Hospitals
- Hospital facilities directors, VP of Operations, and food service managers at health systems undergoing kitchen renovations.
- Long-term care, assisted living, and senior living facility operators.
- Healthcare GCs who regularly manage kitchen upgrades and replacement projects.
Government, Emergency Management & FEMA
- FEMA contractors and emergency management firms providing disaster response and humanitarian relief.
- State and county emergency management offices with disaster response programs.
- Military and federal government contractors supporting operations with large on-site populations.
Correctional Facilities & Prisons
- State and federal prison systems with aging kitchen infrastructure requiring phased renovation.
- Private corrections operators (CoreCivic, GEO Group, etc.) managing food service contracts.
- Correctional facility GCs and construction program managers.
Universities, Stadiums & Large Institutions
- University facilities and dining services directors managing campus kitchen renovation projects.
- Stadium and event venue operators needing supplemental kitchen capacity.
- Corporate campuses or large employer facilities with on-site cafeteria programs.
Data Centers & Technology Facilities
- Data center facility managers and operations directors overseeing large-scale build-outs or infrastructure upgrades where on-site cafeteria food service operations are disrupted.
- Hyperscale and colocation data center operators (AWS, Microsoft, Google, Equinix, etc.) with large round-the-clock engineering and construction workforces requiring continuous food service.
- Data center GCs and mission-critical construction firms managing projects where hundreds of on-site workers need to be fed daily throughout extended build or renovation timelines.
What You Will Do
- Prospect, cold call, and leverage your existing network to identify organizations with temporary kitchen needs — both planned renovations and emergency situations.
- Qualify opportunities, develop relationships with key decision-makers, and guide prospects through the sales process from first contact to signed contract.
- Prepare and present proposals tailored to each client's operational requirements, timeline, and budget.
- Work closely with KCI's Operations Project Manager / Director of Operations to ensure seamless client onboarding and project execution.
- Maintain an active pipeline, provide regular deal updates, and forecast revenue accurately.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events as appropriate to develop new contacts.
- Represent KCI with professionalism in all client interactions, upholding the company's long-standing reputation for reliability and expertise.
Compensation Structure
This position offers a salary-to-commission transition designed to support you through KCI's longer sales cycle while rewarding performance as your pipeline matures.
Base Salary Period — Up to 6 Months
New representatives will receive a guaranteed base salary at the federal minimum exempt salary threshold (Currently $58,656 annually) for up to six months from their start date. This draw period exists to give you the runway to prospect, build relationships, and close your first deals without financial pressure during the ramp-up phase.
Commission Conversion
Each pay period, your earned commissions and residuals are calculated against your base salary. If your commissions exceed your base salary equivalent for that period, you receive commissions instead — whichever is higher. You will never be paid less than the base salary during the 6-month period, and you will never leave money on the table when your deals are paying more.
After 6 Months
Compensation transitions to 100% commission. By this point, a representative with an active pipeline should have closed enough business to have commissions and residuals well exceeding the base salary threshold.
Base Commission Rate and Milestones:
Sales representatives earn 5% of the total contracted rental value of each project they close. Total contracted value is calculated as the monthly rental rate multiplied by the number of months in the signed agreement.
Example: A client signs a 6-month agreement at $29,000/month — the total contracted value is $174,000, generating an $8,700 commission paid out at the below milestones.
- Signing of Contract / Receipt of Security Deposit: 25%
- At Delivery of Kitchen Unit: 50%
- After 2nd Month Rental & Setup Received: 25%
Monthly Residual Commission — Earned on Active Rentals:
In addition to the base commission, representatives earn a monthly residual on all active rental income received. Residuals escalate with the length of the rental, rewarding you for placing clients in longer-term agreements.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven track record in B2B outside sales; you know how to open doors and close deals.
- An existing network in one or more of our target sectors: construction/GC, healthcare, government/emergency management, corrections, shipbuilding, or institutional facilities.
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, you manage your own pipeline and don't wait to be told what to do.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization.
- Comfortable selling long-cycle, consultative deals to facilities managers, project managers, and C-suite decision-makers.
- Ability to understand and communicate the technical and operational aspects of temporary kitchen deployments.
- Proficiency in HubSpot CRM is required. Candidates must be comfortable managing their pipeline, logging activity, tracking deals, and reporting on sales progress within the platform. Experience building contact lists, sequences, and follow-up workflows in HubSpot is a plus.
- Experience in food service equipment, modular facilities, construction services, or emergency response solutions is a plus.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events as needed.
Why KCI Temporary Kitchens
- We operate in a niche market with limited direct competition. Once you understand the product, you have a significant advantage.
- A 30+ year company with proven case studies, references, and an operational team that delivers, making it easier for you to close and keep clients.
- Residual income model means your earnings grow over time as your book of business expands.
- Flexible, field-based role: sell from wherever your network is strongest.
- Direct access to leadership, no bureaucratic sales structure standing between you and decision-making.
